When someone speaks to you they may be communicating or they may not be at all. As we have learned in media communication lessons, the problem could be the communicator, the communication receiver, or the communication medium. It is so important that we speak and listen well. Also, choose the right way to communicate.
Jeremiah 19:10-11
Then you shall break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you, and say to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts: Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, which cannot be made whole again; and they shall bury them in Tophet till there is no place to bury.
Jeremiah, by God's leading, continued to communicate His message to the people of Judah. This chapter shows how Jeremiah goes to a valley with a flask and shows what is going to happen to them because of their unfaithfulness to God and their continued worship of Baal and their practice of human sacrifice.
In all that was going on, I don't think there is a problem with the communicator or the communication medium. It is the receiver. They are NOT listening. All that was being said was falling on deaf ears.
Father, as I pursue after Your heart and seek to do Your will, am I listening? Or am I distracted and not listening? I want to listen well.
