Someone knows best

Are you feeling cornered? Sometimes we could be facing challenges and we feel there is no where to run. Our view of things become desperate. We feel like it is all coming to an end. David felt the same way. But, he seemed to have understood how to have informed confidence. Psalms 27:3 Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. David uses two keywords in this verse. Fear and confident. No fear! Truly, how can you have fear when the Creator of the universe is by your side. David goes on to amplify his close relationship with God. Psalms 27:5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. Can I have the same relationship with God? Sure you can. Be reconciled in your relationship with Him. He is listening. Call out to Him. He is a just, compassionate and merciful God. Psalms 27:14 Wait on the ...

Moving is blessed

It is not easy to move an entire family to a new place. Lee Yen and I have moved many places. We have lived in 13 homes in the almost 26 years we have been a family. Don't ask how that is possible. It's complicated. Jacob also had some major moves and he was about to embark on his last living move. Genesis 46:3, So He said, “I am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there. As was told to Abraham, Jacob was about to commit his family to a 400-year stay in Egypt. The official family count was 70 not including, among others, the wives of his sons. God appeared to Jacob to confirm this plan. I am very grateful to Lee Yen for her demonstration of flexibility and endurance. She has journeyed with me through thick and thin. This includes Sharmaine, Sherman, Shawn and Shane. Reading this chapter tells me that God is promising that he will be with us through this journey of faith. You and your family can also trust in thi...

Be faithful and be blessed

Living in different countries is not easy. There are many adjustments needed to be made. Food, a place to stay, your livelihood, and the most important thing is your friendships and other relationships. My family and I have experienced this having lived on 3 continents. Abram experienced this as well. Genesis 12:1-2, Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. However difficult the move, God had a reason for it. Abram was given a promise and he left Haran. He left his father's house and went to a foreign land. Was it going to be easy? We see Abram seeking God in the midst of this. Genesis 12:7, Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. Abram was surrounded by the...
