Lee Yen and I have 4 children. By the time Shane came along (number 4) we were experienced at the whole process. To the point that we could afford to do everything ourselves without the need for a live in helper. This tradition of confinement was also there with the Jewish people. Leviticus 12:2, Speak to the children of Israel, saying: If a woman has conceived, and borne a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her customary impurity she shall be unclean. 40 days for a male child and 80 days for a female child and a sacrifice is made after that. There is wisdom in this and as I reflect on this there is tremendous benefit from following the process both physically and emotionally.
