In American culture, and I should mention traditional and conservative culture, men always opened doors for women, and they would take their hats off as they greet another lady. That is lost greatly today with the advent of technology (easier doors to open and the need to get in and out of cars quickly) and in some cases the change in culture caused by the feminists movement. In Moses' days the women were well protected. Numbers 30:16, These are the statutes which the Lord commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter in her youth in her father's house. Women who were married or still lived their father, were protected by their "man in the house". This is again a God given ecosystem for the family.
