Trouble can sometimes come from within. We need to recognize that much of this stems from our fallen human nature. We are drawn to the influences of Satan. Even Peter who proclaimed that Jesus was the Christ, was implied to have had Satan influence his thinking as Jesus was facing his death in the cross. Jesus said, Get thee behind me Satan. Psalms 56:4 In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? The Psalmist is clear. In this chapter much is said about the attacks of the people around us. But we need to sing this Psalm. It is said again slightly differently in verse 11. We cannot fear the statements of man. He is right. What can man do to you? We need to put our trust in God. Father, I will not fear what man may do to me. Instead, I will trust in you.

My family and I are traveling through some majestic mountains. If you ask most people, they will say this happened naturally over many million years. But I am glad I have a clearer answer. God had complete hand in it. Job reflects on God's great power and capability. Job 26:12, He stirs up the sea with His power, And by His understanding He breaks up the storm. Not only is God powerful, He has great knowledge and wisdom. He operates in a manner that still defies human wisdom. One of my sons asked me when was the trinity first mentioned in the Bible. I was reminded that it was right there in Genesis 1. Earlier that morning another son said his favorite verse is Genesis 1:1. If you go on in that chapter, you will read these verses. Genesis 1:2, The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. There are two wars that are considered modern day wars and were labeled world wars. However, looking back in history, there have been significant wars involving much of the civilized world. The Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Medes, Alexandra the Great, Romans, Arabs, Moghuls and the list goes on. The people of Israel recounted in these early chapters of Chronicles the might of the Israeli army. 1 Chronicles 7:5, Now their brethren among all the families of Issachar were mighty men of valor, listed by their genealogies, eighty-seven thousand in all. Does God need numbers? While the entire chapter seems to emphasize the strength of the fighting force of Israel, there is a need to look at what God is able to do with the few. How few can it be? I believe really few. Our strength comes from the power of God. The word valor is similar to strength. God provides the supernatural ability and divine ordinance for victory.
