When someone has been caught up in a crime as a victim, the police usually try to get a good profile of the suspects who perpetrated the crime. They will sometimes use composite sketches that allows the victim to identify somebody. John as he describes what is seeing is giving us a graphic picture of what he saw.
Revelation 16:1, Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”
As the seven bowls of wrath were poured out, the impending final conflict at Armageddon looms. It is interesting that the armies of the east is mentioned. They are facilitated by the drying up of the Euphrates River.
Revelation 16:12, Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.
As John describes this period it is clear that something incredibly wrong is going to happen in the future history of the world. If the Bible has been correct on so many counts in the past, how much more the future? This is not good versus evil. This is about how holy and sovereign God is dealing with beings that choose to reject God and choose their own ways. It would be a shame if someone has read all this and has experienced the fulfilment of biblical prophesy but still rejects God.
Father, I want to walk in your ways no matter what the cost. I will not take the mark of the beast. My relationship with you is most important.
