Politics can be a very consuming activity and the intrigue it carries builds great fodder for conversations, especially among men. I apologize if I am being chauvinistic but statistics show that men are more interested in politics than women. It builds interest in current affairs like no other. In my country we conduct a lot of "coffee shop" talk around politics. I am sure when there is less politics to discuss the revenues of these establishments goes down (sorry no statistics to support this assertion). The media capitalizes on this and makes good money.
