During my consulting days we used the term rainmaker to refer to somebody that was skilled in bringing in new work and this was an important criteria to be made a partner of the firm. I was doing very well and was a year from being considered for partnership when I felt the Lord leading me to a new season in my life.
In Jeremiah 14 you see in verse 22 it is said, "Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Are You not He, O Lord our God? Therefore we will wait for You, Since You have made all these."
God is our perfect rainmaker. The people of Israel were desperate. As they reflected on their predicament, they realized only God can deliver them from the drought. We may strife in our academic, professional or business work but the real ingredient for success is our God. I will look to the REAL Rainmaker. He is the source of all good success. I attribute my career successes to God. He brought on the elevations in my life so that He can be glorified.
Father, I will never take glory for anything I have achieved. You are the vine that allowed this branch to bear much fruit.
