Things can get very grim, very fast. This is especially so when people are against you. Enemies are ready to take a pound of your flesh and do evil against you and your plans. That is the story of the Babylonians and the like.
Isaiah 21:7-9
And he saw a chariot with a pair of horsemen,
A chariot of donkeys, and a chariot of camels,
And he listened earnestly with great care.
Then he cried, “A lion, my Lord!
I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime;
I have sat at my post every night.
And look, here comes a chariot of men with a pair of horsemen!”
Then he answered and said,
“Babylon is fallen, is fallen!
And all the carved images of her gods
He has broken to the ground.”
What is the point of you gaining the whole world and losing your soul. Paul the Apostle's message is clear as recorded in the New Testament. You may think highly of yourself today. The world may present you with many accolades, but ultimately your superiority cannot last. The Babylonians and the people of the Arabian Peninsula found that they were being defeated. Yes, the unthinkable happened. God has His way of turning the tide of history. The Persians are coming.
I need to lead my life with no expectation of permanency. Things can change very rapidly. However, God works it all out good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose. He is by the side of those who fear Him and walk according to His ways.
Father, have your way in my life and I know you have the best plans.
