A mother (I do not subscribe to the notion or term "would-be mother") expecting her child waits with great anticipation and dreams. She goes through a physical, emotional and spiritual journey that starts with conception. A woman has complete charge of her body and cannot negate the fact that the baby in her womb has her blood flowing through the baby even it may be through a God given system that includes the placenta. The greatest baby to be ever conceived was foretold about 700 years before it happened. This baby was special because the DNA was "out of this world" but had human blood.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
This chapter has good and bad news. The good news is that the region of Galilee is prophesied to have a deliverer who is said to have 5 names, Wonderful (greatest person ever), Counselor (one who gives the best directions), Mighty God (no one beats or is stronger than Him), Everlasting Father (our Father forever as opposed to our earthly father) and Prince of Peace (the one that gives the ultimate and best peace). The bad news is that the Northern Kingdom is going to face great judgement because they followed other gods (they settled for the worst alternative to God).
The big message here is how Jesus' coming is foretold hundreds of years before and the place that He will mostly minister is also foretold. I am sure when Isaiah spoke these things it was not clear how all this could be, and when it would happen. The same is true about Jesus' second coming.
Father, let me work while it is still day. Keep my hands on the plow. Give me favor and good success this day. Let those who do not know you seek you while it is still day.
