Jeffrey Epstein is a name that has created media intrigue with his offences and lifestyle. His ungodly ideas and actions were fueled by the power and money in his hands. He was almost untouchable because of his long time liaison with very powerful people stretching over at least two continents. His untimely death in the jail cell probably implicates some powerful people.
The Song of Solomon 6:8-9
There are sixty queens
And eighty concubines,
And virgins without number.
My dove, my perfect one,
Is the only one,
The only one of her mother,
The favorite of the one who bore her.
The daughters saw her
And called her blessed,
The queens and the concubines,
And they praised her.
Queens and concubines? Spending time in the garden collecting lilies? You may ask, "Is this normal?". In noble Chinese families and perhaps repeated in other cultures, this is normal. Is this right with God? Let's be frank. Even if it is allowed, our God given conscience will not allow it. So why is it mentioned in the bible? This is a good question, and for which I have no good answer. Safe to say that it was not acceptable to the average man during Solomon's days but people grew to accept it for a man of great wisdom and authority. But was he happy? We know from the book of Proverbs and other writings that he, in the end, regretted it.
The high life can be looking very good, but it helps no one. Let us not be envious of it. Let us lead normal lives even if we have great wisdom and authority. Let not the likes of Jeffrey Epstein tempt us into a world of lies and sin that is anti-God.
Father, I want to live my life pure and without stress.
