The Middle East has rich history. Because early civilization started there and spread to other parts of the world, many customs and beliefs can be traced back to the Middle East. I just started the first book of Chronicles. It has a detailed history of the people's lineage. Some prominent kingdoms are mentioned. One of these Edom.
1 Chronicles 1:43, Now these were the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before a king reigned over the children of Israel: Bela the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
The Edomites are relatives of the people of Israel through Esau the brother of Jacob. These people lived in an area that is roughly in modern day Jordan. Possibly some Jordanians are from this ancient people. They developed government with chiefs and a combined or collective kingdom. All this happened before Israel had a king. Who was Israel's king? God!
Father, you are the King of kings and the Lord of lords! I may be leading or directing an effort, but you are the Chief.
