I am sure you have been told to never trust strangers. Once I was approached by a total stranger who said he needed to borrow a bicycle. My friend and I did not trust him, but we let him borrow my friend's bike while we followed him from the back in my bike. However, we lost him! Hezekiah trusted total strangers.
2 Kings 20:13, And Hezekiah was attentive to them, and showed them all the house of his treasures—the silver and gold, the spices and precious ointment, and all his armory—all that was found among his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.
Isaiah chastised Hezekiah and said that these Babylonians will plunder everything and even take captives to work as eunuchs. Hezekiah was serious in following God's ways but some pride and ego crept in. The question we must all ask ourselves is, "Why are we doing this?". If it is for selfish ambition, STOP IT!
Father, help me do all things for the benefit of others and for your kingdom's sake.
