Do you have big dreams? Sometimes we fall short because we made great strides towards the big dream and we STOP. We allow complacency to step in and we are never able to achieve what we had originally dreamed. David was no different.
1 Chronicles 20:1, It happened in the spring of the year, at the time kings go out to battle, that Joab led out the armed forces and ravaged the country of the people of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab defeated Rabbah and overthrew it.
David stayed in Jerusalem and did not go to war. He was instead consumed by the power, riches and eventually women. You may disagree with me, but I believe that God was ready to expand and enlarge the kingdom beyond what is was. Perhaps totally defeat the Egyptians and the Assyrians. Can they do that? That's why the chapter ends with stories of how they were defeating giants.
Father, let me not shortchange myself and settle for less.
