Are you strong? You may respond with a question. In what area? My church has just launched the word for the year "Strong". And the pastor used the passage from Isaiah 35:3-7, Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert. The parched ground shall become a pool, And the thirsty land springs of water; In the habitation of jackals, where each lay, There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
What a powerful promise from God. In the chapter I read today there is also a promise that is repeated 3 times. Deuteronomy 31:6, Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.
Joshua was about to be inaugurated as leader of the people of Israel. Moses speaks God's promise to them and preambles it by saying, Be Strong and of good courage. Are you about to start a new project or endeavor? Or, are you in the middle of a new thing? Say, Strong!
We can only be confident because God is with us. But we need faith to believe. Not by might, nor by power, by my Spirit says the Lord. Our strength is in the confidence we have in the Lord. His spiritual armor, his download of strategies, and His weapons for spiritual warfare. We don't trust in horses and chariots, and human endeavor.
Father, increase my faith.
