Ever been in an organization that has had a transition of leaders? Or perhaps you are going through a transition right now. It is never easy. People are so used to the earlier leader and the person may have influenced the culture of the organization with his or her style of leadership. Sometimes the transition not smooth. But it was smooth between Moses and Joshua.
Deuteronomy 34:9, Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Joshua went everywhere with Moses. He was the silent follower. He observed everything. He also heard everything. It was on the job training. However, it is interesting that this was mentioned about Moses.
Deuteronomy 34:10-12, But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, in all the signs and wonders which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
Can the successor ever be as good as, or better than the predecessor? I believe it is possible. But it requires the successor to learn from the past and pursue excellence in the new opportunities and challenges that the future holds. God is speaking to you in this transition or future transition. Be ready.
Father, your game plan is all I seek.
