I am wary of brands and organizations that build their reputation around a single person. It is very risky to say the least. Number one, one day this person will be incapacitated to be able to lead well or lead at all. Number two, no one is perfect. They can do something or say something that disrupts the brand or organizational values being communicated. Hence, those in authority have a great responsibility. I need to watch myself. I must build a legacy that outlasts my tenure as a leader and is not associated with my person. How can this be done? Always go back to God and no one else.
Ezekiel 45:16-17
“All the people of the land shall give this offering for the prince in Israel. Then it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, at the feasts, the New Moons, the Sabbaths, and at all the appointed seasons of the house of Israel. He shall prepare the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings to make atonement for the house of Israel.”
There are 2 main types of people mentioned in this chapter. The priests and the princes. One performs the act of intercession and presentment of the sacrifice, and the other provides the sacrifice. They are to do this with holiness and justice for all people of the tribes of Israel. And they were to do it at the holy site set aside in Jerusalem. What is the main purpose of this?
We are tempted daily to do the wrong things. We are enticed by our flesh and the spiritual dark forces to yield to these temptations. It feels good for a moment but it yields bad consequences. The people of Israel needed the sacrifice as prescribed by God to clear them off these wrong doings. Other cultures have the same understanding and do various things to appease their gods. Some even go through human sacrifice for this reason. In fact archaeologists have found remains of infants buried in homes in Israel indicating that even they resorted to other forms of sacrifice. We have the idea but the execution is wrong because it is NOT God's way.
The perfect sacrifice was His Son. We are forgiven and His love allows us to be fully reconciled with God. We now do not need priests and princes. We only need Jesus Christ. Thank you Father.
