Don't tell my children (Sharmaine, Sherman, Shawn and Shane) what I am saying here (though they are reading this as well). I love them very much and no matter what they do I am ready to stay loving them and blessing them. Nothing can cause me to say to them, "be gone". If they say to me, "I am leaving", I will always be ready to receive them back. Such is the case with our Heavenly and Perfect Father.
Ezekiel 40:2-3
In the visions of God He took me into the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain; on it toward the south was something like the structure of a city. He took me there, and behold, there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze. He had a line of flax and a measuring rod in his hand, and he stood in the gateway.
God is an architect. He has perfect sense of what would look good. That was what happened here with the vision God was giving Ezekiel. Much detail goes into what is being shown. All measurements given and all the various components of the temple being described along with their purpose. The directions are clear in preparation for what the people of Israel were to do after 70 years of captivity. Oh yes, that was foretold and by God's great mercy and miracle this came to pass. Read Ezra. It is fantastic how all the scriptures have great consistency and singular motive.
What can we learn here? God is detailed. He foresees what's needed and has planned ahead. He communicates His plan. And later you will see that He provides the resources to complete the job. Yes, 4 point sermon here. But more importantly, is that God cares for His people and is prepared to redeem them after they have rejected Him so much.
Father, I need your heart to forgive and care for others.
