Nothing beats the beauty of a freshly renovated home with new furnishings, especially when you have been living in a dirty and broken home where nothing works. The doors creak, the carpet is torn and smells. The windows are dirty and musty. The bathroom is moldy and plumbing leaking. The roof and ceiling is broken in places. On a larger and more beautiful scale, God brings restoration for the people of Israel.
Ezekiel 36:35-36:
So they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’ Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, the Lord, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, the Lord, have spoken it, and I will do it.
Unlike Edom, or the prophecy against Mount Seir, this land called Israel was to be dwelt on, it will bear much fruit and it will be able to defend itself. Do we see this in Israel today? This is prophecy fulfilled no matter how you feel about modern day Israel. But a few times in the chapter God says He is doing it not for Israel, but for the sake of His Name. That people will know He is the Lord.
People are human and have a tendency to make mistakes or sin. But God is ever willing to receive us if we humble ourselves and pray and turn from our wicked ways. And in all of this it is for His glory. He shines through our experience. This has been the case for people like Phelps, Schooling, Bolt and Biles. All Olympic gold medalists with a difference. They have their share of mistakes and weaknesses but you can see the working of God in their lives.
Father, I am definitely on Your side. Why take anything less? You my Lord and Savior.
