I still remember playing the yo yo when I was young. You tried very hard to keep the momentum so that it did not stop rolling. The people of Israel were like a yo yo. So indecisive and forgetful. This resulted in them not being able to remove completely the enemies around them.
Judges 3:4-6, And they were left, that He might test Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commandments of the Lord, which He had commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. Thus the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons; and they served their gods.
The chapter speaks of different ones that were raised up to deliver the people of Israel from these foreign kings. But, who do they have to blame? Only themselves. They were playing yo yo with God. Verse 6 is so sad. It ends with "they served their gods". When they realized that they were not getting any where then they cried out to God.
Father, help me stay consistent in my walk with you always. Let me not drift into complacency.
