Ready for pain?

No pain no gain! Most of us are familiar with this inspirational phrase. Many in our society are trying to gain something in the shortest possible time with little or no effort. We hear of weight loss pills, and get rich quick schemes. All targeting the same mindset from our human tendencies. Is it sustainable? Or, ethical? Or, has it got side effects in the long run? Paul is clear that the preaching of the gospel has great pain and sacrifice. But we do it for the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

It is worth it all when you see the light of Jesus Christ in each life. They are saved from eternal condemnation. All this takes an eternity mindset. What is your planning horizon? The next 3 years? Or, eternity? I cannot be shortsighted and think only of the here and now when I have a heavenly Father who has a bigger plan for me.

2 Corinthians 4:15
For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

Our lives do not end with death. It starts with Jesus Christ and has no end after that. We are God's living testimony for eternity. We will draw people to the same for the glory of God and for the blessing of mankind.

Father, your last command is my first concern no matter the cost.

Heavenly courage and capability

Anybody reading this belongs to the military or was in the military? I commend you if you were. Whatever reason you were part of the military, it takes great courage to perform your role. If you are protecting the sovereignty of a country and you go beyond the call of service, your work is beyond anything money can pay. Such a person that acted in this manner was Abram. "Being Ready" cannot wait

Ready for the end of the world? Ready for death? I am sure many reading this are indifferent to this question. You don't care. But if you care about what you eat each day. You care about who you meet. You care about your health. And perhaps, you even care about people, your community and/or the environment. Then, you are avoiding the question about being ready for the most important event of your life, because you don't know the answer. John writes about this in Revelations. Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. The time is near! In the KJV it says, the time is at hand! The revelation given to John is difficult to completely appreciate because He is sharing God's perspective on time (from eternity to eternity). There is a silver lining

The phrase "silver lining" is used when you want to emphasize the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface. The origin of the phrase seems to be John Milton's 1634 poem "Comus," which includes the line, "Was I deceived? or did a sable cloud/Turn forth her silver lining on the night?" ( Source ). Unfaithfulness or lack of loyalty is prevalent in our society today. But was it any different "back then"? This issue is a perennial one. From ancient times you see switching of loyalties and allegiances to suit the personal agenda of the person. Sometimes this could involve an entire nation. Are you ready for miracles? Are there things going on in your life that can only be changed or improved by a miracle? We sometimes come to the end of ourselves and do not know where to turn.
