Do you have disagreements in the family? In the workplace? In the community? This is natural. The issue is not whether we have disagreements but what do we do with them. Disagreements can lead to extended strife and affect a growing number of people who may or may not have anything to do with the original disagreement. Two things need to happen. Communication and forgiveness. Paul faced this with the Corinthians.
But if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me, but all of you to some extent—not to be too severe. This punishment which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man, so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with too much sorrow.
In the disagreements, we need to have open conversations with great patience and tolerance. And be ready to be humble and forgiving. Everyone should be applauded for their good intentions without being judged for their personal agenda. The greatest thing you can do is to "leave your own agenda at the door ". Refocus on the things that matter. People need to see Jesus Christ. Paul says it so beautifully.
For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
This is what makes following Jesus so different. We have access to a fragrance that covers all the natural smells of our human tendencies. He has given us life eternal through His death and resurrection. Do you have disagreements in your life today? Put on the fragrance of Jesus Christ. He is offering it to you with the greatest love demonstrated through His death on the cross.
Father, bathe me with your fragrance so that people don't smell me, but You.
