Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. How true. We use the phrase "slip of the tongue" all the time. In reality there may not have been a slip. You spoke what was on your heart. We can justify for all you care, it does not remove the fact that you were thinking in a certain way about a situation or a person. The religious leaders of Jesus' day were having great heart issues and this was prophesied by Isaiah.
Matthew 15:7-9
Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'
This chapter in a nutshell shows Jesus speaking about the “elephant in the room” when it came to the spiritual condition of the religious leadership of Israel in His days. We also need to be self searching. Are we sincerely seeking God and His ways in our lives? Jesus was unconventional and it could be very challenging not to have a set way of doing things each day. We are creatures of habit, and sometimes bad habits. Jesus spent much in solitude time with the Father. How can our hearts change and work miracles like Jesus? Spend time with the Father.
Matthew 15:16-20
So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding? Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."
Father, I desire time with you. More time. I will give priority.
