A good story always has a good opening, a moving account about what happened, and a "good feeling" ending. Everybody loves a good story and that's what makes people go to the movies. Some have experimented with stories to promote a cause that has no good ending in order to provoke action. These may have smaller audiences but will attract those who identify with the cause. The true story of Jesus Christ is a story that has both a sad and happy ending.
Matthew 13:16-17
But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
In this chapter Jesus tells many parables. Many sat and listened not because they understood the parables but because He had done many miracles before this. Their hearts were closed to the message. The happy ending is that many will hear well and celebrate the kingdom of God in their lives. Those who choose to stay out because of their preconceived ideas of Jesus, like the people of Nazareth, will not have a happy ending.
Father, I choose to have your happy ending. Continue to lead me.
