The law of the land is there for us so that we have freedom. It seems counter intuitive but that is the only way to have freedom in our daily living. Imagine driving on the left side of the road in the United States, or vice versa in Malaysia. Or, coming to a green light and wondering if you can drive through the junction. Or, living in a country where there are no rules and people can come and go as they wish from other countries. There would be no freedom. No peace of mind. Everyone does what is right in their own eyes and eventually the wrong is legislated and you have babies aborted, same sex couples in a legal union adopting children, and harmful chemicals and products being legalized for sale (it is interesting that in the past other pharmaceutical products are tested so thoroughly before being approved for sale). Freedom? People are chasing freedom and forgetting that you need truth before freedom.
Matthew 5:43-44
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you
Jesus says it so well in the beatitudes. If there were 3 chapters in the Bible to understand truth, it would be Matthew 5, 6 and 7. One of the profound truths here is that, we are not only to love our neighbors but to love our enemies. What does it mean? Well just as it says. We do not condone their behavior or lifestyle but we love them. A child can do very bad things and the parents could discipline the child. But it does not stop the love of the parents for the child. We seem to have slowly but surely moved into the misconceived notion that if you discipline a child you no longer love them. We have created restrictions just because a small few parents out there discipline without love. The child experiences true freedom from the love infused discipline of a God fearing parent. It is time for true freedom and Jesus teaches this here.
Do you know Jesus well enough to understand His truths? Accept Him as your Lord and Savior today and receive God's radical love.
Father, I need to pursue the truth for freedom.
