Doing what is right in your own eyes brings great risks. Firstly, you could be doing something that may jeopardize the well-being of your family. Next your well-being at work and community. Or, with the laws of the country. Or, worst still, your relationship with God. Such was the case with the people of Israel.
Ezekiel 5:7-8
Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have multiplied disobedience more than the nations that are all around you, have not walked in My statutes nor kept My judgments, nor even done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you’— therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Indeed I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations’.
Ezekiel shares God's pronouncement of judgement on Jerusalem. It is severe and consistent with what Jeremiah had said. And history has shown this to be true. In our need to focus and not waste time, we need to do what is right in God's eyes. Am I?
Father, as you have led me this far, please continue to lead me in all things for your glory. Focus and no time wasted.
