In my days as a scout I used to go camping at least twice a year. We were encouraged not to take anything canned. Only fresh vegetables and dried foods. We were also not allowed to bring cooking stoves. We made wood fires at the camp. If it rained it was a great challenge, but we managed. We were young then. Our tents were simply waxed canvas tents and we had to dig good drains around them to ensure we were not flooded out. At most we would spend 5 days out on a camp, but Ezekiel had it way worse.
Ezekiel 4:4-6
Lie also on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it. According to the number of the days that you lie on it, you shall bear their iniquity. For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year.
How many days can you remain lying down? 1 day, 30 days or 60 days? How about slightly over 1 year and 2 months? Ezekiel had to demonstrate what it meant to take the sin of Israel on yourself and during that time he was to provide for himself a cooked simple meal. All symbolic and quite abnormal to draw attention.
What is the Lord saying through this? A strong message to say that you have failed big time. Also it is more than 2 years of wasted time reflecting 430 wasted years. We cannot waste any more time. We need to live our lives for Him. No time to waste. No time for TV and the other pleasures of life.
The harvest is ready. I need to focus. Father, I am ready.
