"London Has Fallen" is a movie I watched in 2016 and about the same time the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. This caused the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, to indeed resign. This was tremendous news. In a way expected for weeks but nobody was really ready for its repercussions. Not when the polls were showing the other way. Reports said investors did not expect this. The Dow dropped 900 points and other major markets followed the same the next week. Wow! Sounds like Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 39:2-3
In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was penetrated. Then all the princes of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabmag, with the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.
Jerusalem fell and the leaders never expected it, or were perhaps hoping for the best. But the Lord's messages through Jeremiah was clear. Their sin separated them from God and He was not going to fight their battles. But a foreigner, an Ethiopian, was saved because he trusted God. The God who holds the whole world in His hands. What a blessing for the Ethiopian who trusted and obeyed God.
Jeremiah 39:16-18
“Go and speak to Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring My words upon this city for adversity and not for good, and they shall be performed in that day before you. But I will deliver you in that day,” says the Lord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’ ”
Trust and Obey for there is no other way is an old hymn that has such meaning and blessing. Click here to play. Father, YES, I will trust and obey.
