Put ink to paper when you want something read many times over. This was the only way to share information, thoughts and ideas until the last century. Then we discovered that content can be carried digitally (email), and then later stored and accessed digitally (www). Today, you have content from everywhere and up to date information shared freely. You can learn many things independently online. While there is much benefit from this, some abuse these tools for bad purposes.
Jeremiah 36:28-29
Take yet another scroll, and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned. And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, ‘Thus says the Lord: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and cause man and beast to cease from here?’ ”
Wonder how Jeremiah and Baruch would have done what they did with today's technology. Certainly the king could not simply sit next to a burning pot and burn the content scroll by scroll. Before he can blink his eye, many copies of the transcript would have been "shared". The current technologies present significant challenges for bad kings and opportunities for transformation. Also it can be abused to share lies, make out things that are not and create anarchy.
I take the cue from Jeremiah, and proceed to do my part in continuing to share openly God's gift to us and the blessing He has bestowed on us. I will not be quiet and no one can keep me quiet. Share the Word boldly like Jeremiah and Baruch.
Father, may the reading of Your Word, the meditations of my heart and the words that I write be acceptable to You and be disseminated far and wide for people to see that You want a personal loving abiding in covenant relationship with them.
