There are many things about us that we do not control. Yes, we can take every step possible to manage the risks, or mitigate them, but the fact remains. We only control a minute portion of the future. If you think about the future too much, you could get panic attacks and even clinical depression. Many suffer from this unnecessarily.
Proverbs 3 is one of the richest proverbs with so much great advice and instruction. Anyone reading this log should read the full chapter and capture for themselves all that God is intending for them.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Verses 5 and 6 are well memorized by many and has important elements to them. Trust and acknowledge. Two different elements with different calls to action. Trust is done in your heart and hidden from all. We have much understanding or knowledge of our own but we need to trust Him to bring something we have no knowledge or understanding about. It is between us and God. In January 24, 2016 I was going to pursue that with Him for 2 days in my first ever personal prayer retreat. Truly it became the start of the next season of my life.
Acknowledge is something that can only be done with one or more of others. We need to acknowledge God in all things that we do and He will give the plans, ideas, strategies and methods to do many times impossible tasks that have been assigned to us by God, which in many occasions God uses men to do the assignment with us. Bottom line is that we need Godly wisdom and it is alluded to I believe the Holy Spirit. Let us wait for the Holy Spirit working in our situation and we will see the unexpected.
Turning points in my life need to be recognized. What is the next assignment? That is what happened in January of 2016. I pursued God for wisdom for the next steps. The way forward.
Father, thank you for being faithful in spite of me.
