I am sure you believe in the law of cause and effect. For every effect there is a cause. There is also the law of entropy. All things tend to disorder. These are my favorite ideas to be discussed when talking about the creation of the world and the need for someone external to the system to make it all happen. But bringing it down to earth, we need "good effect". For that to happen we need to be the "good cause".
Proverbs 12:11
Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense.
There is a continued message of comparing and contrasting the righteous and the wicked in Proverbs 12. The chapter ends by saying that in the way of righteousness is life, and its pathway there is no death. That is the grim truth.
There is another truth in this chapter, in verse 25. "Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. Indeed with all the pressures around us today, it is easy to fall into depression. The encouragement is to have a good word. This is a great "cause".
Our pathways must be one that rejoices in the good things of life. No amount of strife and wickedness can get us through. But some choose this path and find that it is not sustainable. They will fail.
My desire is to seek all things good and live life to its fullest for the glory of the Lord.
Father, may I only focus on the good especially in the people around me starting with my wife and children.
