Some time ago I read news about a person who went amok and used a machete to destroy a number of statues of gods in a temple. Yes, the statues could not protect themselves. This is not the same as a church being attacked as it is just a building. But here we have gods being attacked with no ability to protect themselves.
Isaiah 44 speaks quite directly about this. The fact that the same wood, and now perhaps plaster, is used for multiple things. Read the chapter by clicking the link here and you will understand what I mean. Here is a small extract.
Isaiah 44:16-17
He burns half of it in the fire;
With this half he eats meat;
He roasts a roast, and is satisfied.
He even warms himself and says,
“Ah! I am warm,
I have seen the fire.”
And the rest of it he makes into a god,
His carved image.
He falls down before it and worships it,
Prays to it and says,
“Deliver me, for you are my god!”
God is determined to save us. Look to him for your salvation. He is the Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end. There is no reason to depend on created things when we can go directly to the Creator who was there before the beginning. He oversees human history and foretold the use of Cyrus in this chapter. He will come and save us.
Father, thank you for making this revelation to me about 40 years ago. It has been an incredible journey with You.
