Winning a battle is not easy when you do not have the necessary arms and personnel. Great dependence is placed on neighboring countries to support the defenses of another country. When you are hard pressed to get the right level of support, you might as well surrender. Such was the case with Hezekiah in the defense of the last city of Judah, Jerusalem. What would you do?
Isaiah 36:14-15
Thus says the king: ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you; nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, “The Lord will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” ’
You are in a seemingly checkmate situation. No where to go? Except what your enemy says. Hezekiah stood his ground but his lieutenants tore their clothes due to hopelessness of the situation. The enemies are at the gates and there is no escape.
I have found myself in a corner many times in my life. The greatest corner was experienced in my later years. What do I do? Don't be ruffled though more and more of your people are losing heart. I know God is our refuge.
Father, let me continue to call on You at all times, and come out of my corner in victory.
