The city was perplexed and Mordecai ran out like a mad man. Wearing only sackcloth and looking grimy from ashes, Mordecai makes a big cry in the middle of town.
Esther 4:1, When Mordecai learned all that had happened, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city. He cried out with a loud and bitter cry.
This scene is repeated throughout the kingdom. I wonder if the king heard this. Or perhaps because no one is allowed to approach him, he does not know. But he will soon know when Esther informs him. A great fast is called for 3 days among the Jews, including Esther's maid servants. Esther is about to embark on a life and death mission to save her people.
Esther 4:16, “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
Young lady Esther is chosen for an important moment. Like Joseph and Daniel, Esther was elevated to become queen of a heathen kingdom for His people's sake. Likewise, God is elevating many women around the world for the sake of the Gospel. Heed the call. If you do not know Jesus, know that God has plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Follow Jesus.
Father, may all the women in my life be elevated for your glory.
