Malaysians are generally not the "do it yourself" types. We have been spoilt by cheap labor. The implication of this is that there is no room for unskilled Malaysian labor, delayed investment in mechanization, processes become labor intensive and inefficient, our people become lazy, majority of mothers work, children are brought up by foreigners with poor values, and the next generation is not ready to take the growing nation to the next level. But, we have a great surprise when Nehemiah goes about rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
Nehemiah 3:10, Next to them Jedaiah the son of Harumaph made repairs in front of his house. And next to him Hattush the son of Hashabniah made repairs.
Nehemiah 3:12, And next to him was Shallum the son of Hallohesh, leader of half the district of Jerusalem; he and his daughters made repairs.
Nehemiah 3:22, And after him the priests, the men of the plain, made repairs.
All kinds of people, including priests and women were engaged. No hired hands. The buck stops here. Groups were building the 10 gates and the walls in between. The rebuilding was happening simultaneously around Jerusalem. With the right team, materials and organization this project was easily done. All lead by a cup bearer who was God fearing and obedient.
Father, I seek the same. The time is short and the work must be done quickly.
