Are you fickle minded or forgetful? We are constantly challenged to make difficult decisions. I would say the most important decision we have to make is what do we do with our time. Yes, as a child of God, I have all of eternity. However, there is an initial phase that is important for all of mankind. What I do affects the eternal destiny of other people. Hanani chose to do the right thing.
2 Chronicles 16:7, And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him: “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.
King Asa was in his 36th year. An established king and kingdom. There are songs attributed to him in Psalms, and I am sure he did well through his years. However, he made a grave error. He stopped relying on God. Instead, he relied on Syria against Israel. God spoke to him through Hanani. It was a bold move that resulted in Hanani's imprisonment.
2 Chronicles 16:10, Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.
How do we use our time here and now? Your wise choices can affect someone's eternal destiny. But, it could mean some significant challenges for your present days. Am I prepared use the time for the benefit of others, or my own. It could also mean an early death.
Father, my life is in your hands. Make full use of it.
