What is the biggest challenge you have ever had in your life? Perhaps it has something to do with a life and death situation. Today the biggest scare is cancer. You hear too many stories of this life threatening disease. In the midst of it all we know God is in charge. Asa the new king of Judah knew this when faced with an Ethiopian army of a million men.
2 Chronicles 14:9, Then Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.
I would shiver! How do I do this? Asa, after his father Abijah's successful reign, went on to remove all worship of other gods in Judah. Was this challenge coming because of that? I think, yes. Satan would do anything to deceive. Asa could have melted in the face of this challenge. He could have gone back to the foreign gods for help. But, no he did not.
2 Chronicles 14:11, And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”
The people of Judah gain great victory that day because it says God defeated the Ethiopians.
2 Chronicles 14:12, So the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.
It is evident that the writer attributes the victory completely to God. Whose side are you on? Get on God's side before you regret it. Yes challenges may come but there is nothing better than being on God's side.
Father, I will always be on your side.
