Leadership impacts success

I truly believe that any organization or even a nation can make a comeback with new leadership. It is also possible that the existing leader goes through a personal transformation impacting the entire organization. Abijah took over from Rehoboam and changed the spiritual atmosphere of the people of Judah. The biggest test came when they needed to fight Israel.

2 Chronicles 13:3, Abijah set the battle in order with an army of valiant warriors, four hundred thousand choice men. Jeroboam also drew up in battle formation against him with eight hundred thousand choice men, mighty men of valor.

Abijah had half the numbers compared to what Jeroboam had. But, he stood firm and declared that God would give them victory. He belittled the gods that Israel now worshiped, and the quality of the priests appointed. As you read the chapter you thought Abijah is going to lose the battle. But, no! God gives the victory.

2 Chronicles 13:17, Then Abijah and his people struck them with a great slaughter; so five hundred thousand choice men of Israel fell slain.

400,000 men slaughtered 500,000 men. This can only be God. It is simply amazing. His father made some mistakes in life, but his son recovered from that and turned the nation back to God. Abijah boldly proclaimed who is their God.

2 Chronicles 13:10, But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken Him; and the priests who minister to the Lord are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties.

Father, there is no doubt in my mind whom my household and I will continue to serve.

Heavenly courage and capability

Anybody reading this belongs to the military or was in the military? I commend you if you were. Whatever reason you were part of the military, it takes great courage to perform your role. "Being Ready" cannot wait

Ready for the end of the world? Ready for death? I am sure many reading this are indifferent to this question. You don't care. But if you care about what you eat each day. You care about who you meet. You care about your health. And perhaps, you even care about people, your community and/or the environment. Time to return to an old and faithful relationship

Unfaithfulness or lack of loyalty is prevalent in our society today. But was it any different "back then"? This issue is a perennial one. From ancient times you see switching of loyalties and allegiances to suit the personal agenda of the person. Sometimes this could involve an entire nation. They shall fear the LORD and His goodness in the latter days. Hosea was again asked to do a prophetic illustration. He was to take on a harlot and demonstrate Israel's unfaithfulness. It was sad. There is a silver lining

The phrase "silver lining" is used when you want to emphasize the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface. The origin of the phrase seems to be John Milton's 1634 poem "Comus," which includes the line, "Was I deceived? or did a sable cloud/Turn forth her silver lining on the night?" ( Source ).
