There are leaders out there who try to look big but have little to show for their efforts. A lot of "flash" but no substance. They try to borrow the substance from another person, but it shows. Associating with such leaders is highly risky. They can sink you without you realizing it. Rehoboam was a leader without substance. After being overran by the king of Egypt this is what happened.
2 Chronicles 12:10-11, Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the doorway of the king’s house. And whenever the king entered the house of the Lord, the guard would go and bring them out; then they would take them back into the guardroom.
Rehoboam was putting on a show. A show of regality that was false. His term as king was no where close to his father, Solomon. He continued to have skirmishes with Jeroboam who took over most of Israel. Totally sad. All because he no longer followed God. .
2 Chronicles 12:1, Now it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom and had strengthened himself, that he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel along with him.
Do you want to be a leader without substance or a God fearing and successful leader? Father, I want to be a God fearing and successful leader.
