Israel has a lot of history. I am not sure when I would ever be able to go there. As I read the Bible I continue to be amazed by the rich heritage the Lord gave the people of Israel and the followers of Jesus Christ. They were not a perfect group of people, and probably this contributed to them being used as lessons for all of us. One such lesson is how the Benjamites responded to the advance of the Israeli Army against them for committing a vicious act as described in my previous post. The people of Benjamin suffered badly.
Judges 20:35, The Lord defeated Benjamin before Israel. And the children of Israel destroyed that day twenty-five thousand one hundred Benjamites; all these drew the sword.
Man has never been perfect and various sacrifices were instituted to receive forgiveness for sins committed. The people of Benjamin felt proud and arrogant, overlooking the sin of some of their brethren. Gibeah is probably no ordinary place as Saul reigned there. But nevertheless a great sin has been committed and the people of Israel had to deal with it. God was consulted continuously in the process.
The takeaway for me in this chapter is that when we make major decisions seek God. When you fail seek God. Continue to execute until success. Father, I will always seek you and never give up.
