What has happened to the old situation of everyone putting in an honest day's work? Today we try to get away with the least amount of work, the least number of hours, and with the highest possible pay. Sound like someone you know? Of course it's not me! A follower of Jesus Christ will undergo a transformation and find himself working against this cultural norm. Paul tells Timothy the world is bad.
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Strong instruction. Turn away from such people. They may drive good cars. Live in nice homes. Hold senior positions. Speak with confidence. Turn away from these is the message. Paul urges Timothy to go back to the Book of Life for guidance and wisdom. Know the truth and live it.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Good work is the end result if we focus on God and His ways. Our lives must start with scripture each day. That is our daily "direction keeper". This will lead us to do right even when no one is looking.
Father, help me to order my days with your scripture.
