"To speak or not to speak?" is the question. I grew up in a strict Asian family where with your father, the old statement, "children should be seen and not heard" is held true. I grew up a quiet boy and spoke little. But somehow I grew up with the strong urge to make things happen and this caused me to speak up in many situations in school, church and later in the workplace. I still can be very quiet and have few words, but when you get me started on my experience with God and His plan of salvation for mankind, I cannot stop. Such was the case with Peter and John, the famous pair of this young movement.
Acts 4:20
For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
Peter and John were told to be quiet and stop speaking about Jesus. But there was little the Jewish leaders could do because the evidence of God's power in the healing of a lame man was there, and the movement was gaining in numbers. The prayer of the followers of Jesus was to become bold to speak.
Acts 4:29
Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word
Father, let me not get cold feet. I must speak with boldness and the truth that is so evident.
