Sicknesses is an ancient occurrence that continued through the ages to this day. Many of the sicknesses that we have today existed thousands of years ago. Some may have been confined to certain areas in the old days because people did not travel much between regions. Viruses also change and become stronger to resist one's antibodies. How this happens I am not sure. But one thing I am certain of is that God has made our bodies capable of defending and healing itself. The prerequisite for this is our state of mind and body. But many do not have these perquisites, including me on occasion, and we fall ill. As the old saying goes prevention is cure. Prevention starts with a great relationship with God and His holy presence in our lives. This helps build a natural defense against things that would cause us to fall sick. But when we do fall sick, we can call out to God as many did it history.
Luke 7:1-5
Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.”
The centurion, who was not Jewish, in humility called out to Jesus to heal his servant. Jesus healed him and commended his faith. Others came and were healed. All this continued to raise Jesus' prominence and led to Him being invited for a meal at Simon the Pharisee's house. There He showed a woman demonstrating faith for salvation. Her sins were forgiven. No temple tax. No sacrifices at the temple. God just recognized her faith. Luke 7:50 says, "Then He said your faith has saved you. Go in peace." Do you have faith in Jesus for Him to not just heal you, but to forgive your sins? Call out to Him. This is the greatest healing you can receive.
Father, let me have faith to call out to you.
