Yesterday I spoke of corporate ladders that are steep and slippery. In Mark Chapter 10 you can see that the disciples still did not get it. They are talking and thinking about the difficulty of getting into the kingdom and being positioned in places of authority. But Jesus was continuing to remind them of the suffering he has to go through. They still couldn't comprehend what Jesus was telling them. Mark 10:5 says, "And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept." There are many things that seem right but God has given us up to these things because of our sinful ways. The kingdom of God is different. But I want to focus on something else today.
Mark 10:51-52
So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
As they continued towards Jerusalem, Jesus continued to demonstrate the power of the kingdom. He healed a blind man. The significance of this one is that Jesus is called the son of David by the blind man. A reminder to the disciples of Jesus being the Messiah? Perhaps, but more interestingly, Mark decides to name him and clearly mention that his faith healed him. The way of the kingdom is faith. It is said in the book of Hebrews that without faith it is impossible to please God. The kingdom of God is something that is out of this world. We require faith to enter it and see the full authority and power in the kingdom. Again, we need to change our paradigms as we walk with God.
Father, I come in faith and so every anxious thought is removed and the human pains that blind me from the kingdom are no more. Hallelujah!
