When I was a student we had to make sure we finished studying all the relevant textbooks for the subjects that we were going to be examined on. I remember when the curriculum for our subjects were published we would buy them to make sure we knew everything listed. A lot of cramming was done. However, it was finally a supernatural intervention that got me through.
Proverbs 30:5-6
Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
Incredible wisdom presented in a nutshell in this chapter. Though the writer starts very modestly, to the point of belittling himself, he displays insightful observations of things around him. He starts by acknowledging the need to honor God and not do things that would make him at odds with the Lord. There is an interesting request in this chapter not to make him rich or poor. Thereby helping him to stay right with God.
The subsequent verses cover the wonders of creation and science. You can have a wonderful geography and science lessons going through these verses. You could probably spend months researching each matter and making discoveries that the writer has observed. This is the reason I have said before that the Bible is the ultimate Textbook of Life. I do not mean to offend anybody, but no other book compares.
It is the most studied and critiqued book in the world and it has stood the test of time. The information, knowledge and wisdom presented are incomparable. If any book that represents a faith says that their holy scriptures cannot be challenged, then they are fooling themselves. I am glad the Bible is well tested, and the truths presented give me great and wonderful confidence for life. Praise the Lord.
Father, may those who read this reflection take the trouble to start reading the greatest book ever written.
