Have you ever sat with an older man? They are rich in experience. If they are transparent with you, they have much to tell about both their successes and failures. Their wise decisions and their mistakes. What is the benefit? You learn from their experiences, instead of waiting to learn (sometimes painfully) from your own. And, hopefully your learning will support wise actions for the future. The book of Proverbs is like that.
Proverbs 24 continues to emphasize the need for us to avoid associating with the wicked and how we must also point out the wrong committed. We cannot envy the success of those around us. Focus on doing right in God's ways and the blessing is so much greater. God given wisdom, understanding and knowledge will supply the riches needed.
Proverbs 24:11-12 warns us to look out for those who are drawn to death. We need to do something. Yes, I am the person that needs to stand in the gap in prayer for them and share the solution for their lives. Time cannot be wasted. I am responsible for their salvation. If they reject me, the message and/or God, that would be their decision.
Proverbs 24:28-29 says we cannot take revenge for things. Interestingly there is also a mention that we should NOT rejoice when our enemies fall. Such is the heart of God.
Proverbs 24:30-34 exhorts to be diligent. Our fields must be well worked and not overgrown with thorns and weeds. We cannot procrastinate. We must do. Yes, I must do. While it is day.
I need to work while it is still day. Time cannot be wasted. Evangelism and discipleship must happen NOW. All the strategies and action plans must get implemented NOW. No time to waste. I am responsible for many lives.
Father, let me do it NOW.
