It is amazing how the earth and universe came into being. Everything is in good balance, otherwise we would be in a totally harsh and erratic environment. Or, perhaps we are and not realizing it. Man's understanding of creation was clear from ancient times. The writer of Ecclesiastes knew that everything about the world is a circle and cycle. How can this be without a great Creator?
Ecclesiastes 1:5-6
The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
And hastens to the place where it arose.
The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.
A new book today. This is a continuation of Solomon's wisdom for us, as introduced at the beginning of this chapter. However, Solomon puts down his wisdom. He says more wisdom, more sorrow. As referred above, One key observation that I made was how he described the wind and the sun. Round and round he says. He seems to imply some understanding of the physical structure of the earth. While there is a demonstration of some understanding, probably it is things like this that adds more sorrow. There is no limit to knowledge. The more you know the more you know you do not know. Until today we are unable to accurately early predict disasters, especially earthquakes.
This day I need to be conscious about pursuing things that are meaningful. The greatest meaning is probably found in helping people reach their greatest potential by having a relationship with the Creator who not only created mankind, but loves them to death. All other pursuits pale in comparison.
Father, help me a good demonstrator and presenter of the Gospel.
