Anger and patience do not go together. I am not sure if they are direct opposites, but they are certainly like water and oil. They do not mix. When people do wrong against us, you could either retaliate against them or cry out to God. The Psalmist cries out to God.
Psalms 58:11
So that men will say,
“Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
Surely He is God who judges in the earth.”
David could have easily killed Saul in the cave. He was in fact repentant that he had cut the corner of his robe. He continued to demonstrate patience and cried out to God about the actions of his enemies.
Father, it is You we look to, to deliver us from evil.
