I loved singing from the time I was a Hindu boy singing the song "Will Your Anchor Hold". Just thinking about it brings back fond memories. Then I sang all those Boy Scout campfire songs. Then finally I discovered songs of love and praise to God when I joined Christian meetings. The Psalmist knew what it meant to sing.
Psalms 59:16
But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
We sing because God has intervened in our lives. He has broken sin's strangle hold on our lives. He has delivered us. We sing with great joy. The early Christians sang in spite of their persecution because they knew God. The Psalmist here sings aloud in the morning. He must have woken up his neighbors. We do it because we love God. Not because it will add to our justification for heaven.
Father, I love you very much. Thank you for being my Abba Father.
