Take promises seriously

Have you sinned in secret? Don't answer. God knows and at some point in the future it would be found out by others. Many parents say this to their children, "Don't do the wrong thing, your sin will find you out one day". The original mention of this came from Moses.

Numbers 32:23, But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the Lord; and be sure your sin will find you out.

It has a different meaning from what we are familiar with. The tribes of Reuben, Gad and eventually Manasseh wanted to establish their territories east of the Jordan instead of crossing over to the west. Moses reminded them of the hesitations of their fathers that caused them to lose their personal blessing. A compromise was struck and promise made. If the promise was not fulfilled their sin will yield its consequences.

What promises have you made? I urge you to keep them or appeal to be relieved of them because of some extenuating circumstances. If you are about to make a promise, make sure it is in line with God's plans for you. Promises are not simple things and I myself have failed to take them seriously in the past. I must be careful.

Father, help me to have your wisdom each time I consider making a promise or commitment.

Heavenly courage and capability

Anybody reading this belongs to the military or was in the military? I commend you if you were. Whatever reason you were part of the military, it takes great courage to perform your role. "Being Ready" cannot wait

Ready for the end of the world? Ready for death? I am sure many reading this are indifferent to this question. You don't care. But if you care about what you eat each day. You care about who you meet. You care about your health. And perhaps, you even care about people, your community and/or the environment. There is a silver lining

The phrase "silver lining" is used when you want to emphasize the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface. The origin of the phrase seems to be John Milton's 1634 poem "Comus," which includes the line, "Was I deceived? or did a sable cloud/Turn forth her silver lining on the night?" ( Source ). Keep to the Original

When you buy things, a branded piece of garment mostly gives you an assurance that it meets a certain set standard of quality. It allows you to decide whether paying a certain price is worth the money. A cheap brand attracts a low value, while an expensive one probably has the design and other qualities that are worth paying for. I have my favorite brands not because I am brand conscious, but because I want to be assured of the value experience. I sometimes try new brands, but as a test. However, I am wary of "copycats". Be unconventional; it is okay!

In every society and organization there are cultural norms. There are practices that are observed and are deemed normal. Anything else would be unacceptable and may cause the person committing this to be taken out. In a religious context many of these may have no relevance to the practice of the faith. They are just ways to deal with all other aspects of life together. In this regard, Jesus was fairly unconventional.
